In the FLOOD LIGHT with YOMICO MORENO

28/08/11

50 minutes with Yomico Moreno was nothing less than INSPIRING! Yomico’s eternal love of tattoos encompasses an intense passion, industrious ambition for perfection and a galvanic presence both in character and artwork. You cannot hold yourself back from getting excited about tattooing when you see his explosive drive for tattooing as a craft. His interest in tattooing commenced at the age of 14 and since then has dedicated his life to it. Yomico has been tattooing as a professional for 9 years now and the outstanding and fascinating tattoo work that he produces breathes life to skin.

Yomico’s biggest inspiration is knowledge. Everything he does is for the love of tattooing and it all circles around knowledge. During our interview he started pulling out books on artwork, tattoo history, biographies, flipping through pages showing images of some of the first owners of tattoos shops, favorite artwork and people who have inspired him. He’s travelled extensively to conventions in Italy, Belgium, England, Australia and his favorite place, Denmark, all the while calling Caracas Venezuela home.  His admiration to attend conventions gives him the opportunity to learn and network with other tattooists who have and continue to inspire him and develop his technique. He adores the evolution of the industry, especially Denmark’s history, from where it was 100 years ago to a decade ago and to present day, which now gives skilled artists the ability to have better machines, better pigments which make for better tattoos.

Realism is the hardest style to execute and this is the ultimate style for Yomico to tattoo. When asked why and his response was that it was the most challenging. He loves that every day he has a new design to pursue and for him it’s a quest of perfection. His work is elaborate with clear detail and beautiful intense color which in the end gives each tattoo a magnificent appearance. There is no doubt that you will be in the utmost able hands and receive a piece you will worship forever after visiting Yomico Moreno.
